Today on the Meet your Farmer episode: Josie Erskine of Peaceful Belly Farm. For over 10 years Josie and husband, Clay Erskine, have been developing a successful model for small (and growing), sustainable, organic farming in Boise.
Peaceful Belly’s 70-acre, ecologically sustainable urban farm, is located near Hidden Springs in the Boise Foothill’s Dry Creek Valley. Their certified organic vegetables supply a 160-family CSA Program (Community Supported Agriculture) and they can be found at Capital City Farmers Market, the Boise Co-op, Idaho’s Bounty and local restaurants.
At its heart Peaceful Belly is a small family farm. They believe in genetic diversity, both domestic and wild, grow over 90 types of vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, and berries. Peaceful Belly’s food is grown organically and is certified by the State of Idaho.
